The Warwick (R.I.) Planning Board approved Providence-based Ortho Rhode Island's plans to establish a 100,000 square-foot, three-story building in Warwick, WPRI reports.
Here are four highlights:
1. The biomedical medical office and surgery center will be adjacent to a Crowne Plaza hotel. Ortho Rhode Island Executive Director Mary-Ellen Ashe said the location is ideal for patient access, with close proximity to the highway.
2. Ortho Rhode Island received approval for the project Aug. 22.
3. The building will involve two phases of construction.
4. The project is expected to create 275 permanent jobs.
"As we continue to identify opportunities to invest in New England, the creation of a biomedical campus in Warwick that creates good paying permanent jobs is smart economic development that benefits the city and our state," said Alfred Carpionato, chairman and CEO of Carpionato Group, a property development company.
