New Mexico hospital opening 3 ASCs — 5 insights

Albuquerque, N.M.-based Presbyterian Healthcare Services is opening three ASCs, including one that could be the region's largest, Albuquerque Business First reports.

What you should know:

1. Presbyterian is partnering with Albuquerque-based New Mexico Orthopaedic Associates to open a surgery center on Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital's campus.

2. The 35,600-square-foot surgery center will focus on orthopedic, podiatry and pain surgical services.

3. Administrators expect the center will perform 16,000 surgeries annually.

4. Presbyterian administrators said normal ASCs have three or four operating rooms, but the new ASC could have double that.

5. Presbyterian is planning other ASCs in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, N.M.
