A surgical center is part of IU Health's robust plan to improve access to care in Fort Wayne, Ind., according to The Journal Gazette.
Three points:
1. IU Health is building a surgical center across the street from Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. The Indianapolis-based health system records about 2.6 million outpatient visits annually.
2. IU Health originally announced plans to enter the Fort Wayne market in 2017.
3. Since its plans for the Fort Wayne area were unveiled, IU Health has opened a primary care clinic and began developing another primary care office, a heart transplant clinic, and an urgent care and lab facility.
