Alamogordo, N.M.-based Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center broke ground Aug. 9 on medical office complex that will house a surgery center, according to the Alamogordo Daily News, part of the USA Today network.
Three insights:
1. The surgery center will go on the first floor of the three-story, 63,000-square-foot complex. GCRMC's orthopedic, cardiology, surgical and women's services will be moved to the complex.
2. The complex is part of a $65 million project that will also include renovations to the emergency department and a cancer center expansion.
3. The groundbreaking was a nod to GCRMC's 70th anniversary.
