A 12-surgeon group is collaborating with an investment firm to open a $16 million ASC in Puerto Rico, according to News Is My Business.
Five key details:
1. Advent-Morro Equity Partners and the surgeon partners expect to open the 18,579-square-foot Caguas Ambulatory Surgical Center in July. Caguas is a city in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico.
2. The multispecialty ASC will employ 44 medical professionals and could have up to 30 partners, including physicians who practice there.
3. With six operating rooms, the center will offer services including orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, ENT and hand surgery.
4. Advent-Morro also operates the decade-old Vista Ophthalmic Ambulatory Center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, which also has a physician-ownership model.
5. Cyril Meduña, Advent-Morro principal partner and president, said the centers' physician-ownership models will keep medical talent local and encourage providers who've left Puerto Rico to return.
