Bend (Ore.) Surgery Center. A four-OR center with three procedure rooms, this facility is 100 percent physician-owned, with 35 owners and 60 users who perform more than 10,000 cases annually. The ASC opened in 1997 and moved to its new 20,000-squre-foot location in October 2005. While driven by orthopedic, spine and pain management procedures, the multispecialty center also hosts ENT, general surgery and gynecological surgery as well. In July 2009, the Bend Surgery Center Foundation was created to provide scholarships for local students interested in pursuing healthcare. The surgery center also sponsors several local groups, including Volunteers in Medicine and Boy Scouts.
Cedar Park (Texas) Surgery Center. Physicians at the 10,000-square-foot Cedar Park Surgery Center perform orthopedic, spine, pain management and general surgery procedures, as well as urology and gynecology. The surgery center was opened in 2011 and includes five operating rooms and medical office space. The surgery center Arise Healthcare as its operating partner. At the surgery center, physicians can perform minimally invasive spine stabilization, advanced biologics in spinal reconstruction, artificial disc replacement, degenerative scoliosis surgery, rotator cuff repair, Bankart procedure and hip and knee replacements.
Center for Ambulatory Surgery (West Seneca, N.Y.). With four surgery suites, five endoscopy suites and space available for more growth, this 18,000-square-foot center provides outpatient surgical services to a large area of greater Western New York. In addition to orthopedics, the ASC covers gastroenterology, general surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology, podiatry, urology and reconstructive surgery. Its current annual volume equals more than 15,000 procedures. It is a 50-50 equity partnership between 16 physician-owners and The C/N Group, which provides management services, including all administrative functions of the facility. It is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
Cincinnati Eye Institute Surgery Center (Cincinnati, Ohio). This AAAHC-accredited center opened in 1985 and features six ORs and three procedure rooms in a 17,000-square-foot surgery center. The center has performed more than 10,000 procedures annually since 2007. The center's 25 physicians specialize in cataract, retina, plastics, glaucoma, cornea, YAG laser and argon laser procedures. Cataract surgery makes up about 70 percent of the center's cases each year. Todd D. Albertz, director of surgical services, says training and educating staff has helped to maintain success at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. In regards to maintaining volume, he says using technology to strategize open block time has been essential.
City Place Surgery Center (Creve Coeur, Mo.). Founded in 2000, this orthopedic surgery center is located outside of St. Louis and has four ORs and 19 physician partners. It joined Meridian Surgical Partners in September 2010. The 13,200-square-foot, Medicare-certified facility has also been accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Operations are led by Administrator Carol Hollowood, CASC.
Crane Creek Surgery Center (Melbourne, Fla.). Crane Creek Surgery Center is a 14,000-square-foot facility featuring four operating rooms and two procedure rooms. Surgeons at this multispecialty surgery center focus on orthopedics, spine, ENT, general surgery, pain management and urology. The surgery center includes eight physicians and is affiliated with Blue Chip Partners.
Comprehensive Pain and Rehabilitation Ambulatory Surgery Center (Pascagoula, M.S.). Comprehensive Pain and Rehabilitation opened a 16,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center that has been designed for pain management interventions. The surgery center also houses Algos Research Center, operating rooms and continuing education programs for physicians. It is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and Medicare-certified. Services include spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation, diagnostic and therapeutic spine and joint injections and epidural steroid injections. There is also an onsite clinical psychologist and cognitive behavioral therapy.
East Surgery Center (Bradenton, Fla.). Coastal Orthopedics & Pain Management was founded in 2000 and opened its 10,000-squre-foot East Surgery Center in 2009. The surgery center includes two operating rooms and one procedure room. All types of orthopedic and pain management cases are performed at the center, including a large volume of arthroscopy and hand surgery procedures. There are currently nine physician partners and 14 physicians bringing cases to the ASC. Physicians at the center include team physicians for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, USA Soccer and Pittsburgh Pirates. The surgery center doesn't include ancillary services, but the Coastal Orthopaedics & Pain Management offices have additional services such as physical therapy, imaging and orthopedic bracing equipment.
Eastwind Surgical (Westerville, Ohio). The 10,350-square-foot Eastwind Surgical facility opened in 2007 as a multispecialty surgery center. It was established by the physicians of Central Ohio Neurological Surgeons and accredited by the Ohio Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The center became a Meridian Surgical Partners facility in July 2011. The facility is among the only surgery center in Ohio to offer the Axis Jackson Surgical Table for spinal procedures. The surgeons perform several procedures, including lumbar discectomy and decompression, lumbar fusion, anterior cervical discectomy, carpal tunnel release, epidural steroid injections, facet blocks and sacroiliac joint injections. Eastwind is under the leadership of administrator Lynn S. Feldman.
Foundation Surgical Center of Dickson (Texas). Foundation Surgical Center of Dickson is a 15,000-square-foot facility with four operating rooms and 15 physician partners. The multispecialty surgery center is a joint venture between local physicians and Covenant Hospital in Saginaw. It is accredited by Healthcare Facility Accreditation Program and Medicare-certified. Specialty services at the surgery center include otolaryngology, gastroenterology, neurosurgery, gynecology, orthopedics, pain management, urology, ophthalmology and plastic surgery.
Orthopaedic Surgical Center of the North Shore (Peabody, Mass.). This 16,500-square-foot facility was the first independent orthopedic ASC in the state. The center was opened in 2004 and since 2005, surgeons have performed 32,000 surgeries in the facility. John Powell established the sugary center and now serves as its CEO. The surgery center includes board-certified orthopedic surgeons from Sports Medicine North as well as gastroenterologists, pain management physicians and a urologist. Operating rooms include high definition technology.
New Albany (Ohio) Surgery Center. New Albany Surgery Center is a 16,000-square-foot facility. The physician-owned surgery center is partnered with Mount Carmel Health System. The surgery center is focused on orthopedics and includes 10 physicians from OrthoNeuro. The physicians of OrthoNeuro focus on joint replacement, sports medicine, extremities care and spine surgery.
Northwest Orthopedic Specialists (Spokane, Wash.). Northwest Orthopedic Specialists is a 27-member group that includes a 20,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center. The ASC has five full operating rooms and two pain treatment rooms where physicians and surgeons perform more than 500 surgeries and 400 pain cases per month. The current group was formed through a merger between Associated Orthopaedic Specialists and Northwest Orthopaedic and Fracture Clinic in 2001, with the history of both practices dating back to the 1950s. Additional services at the practice include digital imaging and MRI.
Regional Surgicenter (Moline, Ill.). Regional Surgicenter, led by CEO Arvind Movva, MD, is an 18,600-square-foot, multispecialty surgery center. It has served patients from Illinois and Iowa since 1992 and currently includes gastroenterologists, otolaryngologists, general surgeons, pain management physicians, plastic surgeons and bariatric surgeons. The center includes eight operating rooms and there are plans to expand service lines and add operating rooms in the future.
Sheboygan (Wis.) Surgery Center. With three ORs and two procedure rooms, this 14,660-square-foot surgery center is focused on orthopedic surgery. It is a joint venture between eight local surgeons and St. Nicholas Hospital, a member of The Hospital Sisters Health System based in Springfield, Ill. ASD Management opened the center in 2008 and provides ongoing management. It was Sheboygan County's first new construction, multispecialty, free standing surgery center. The facility is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
St. Louis Spine & Orthopedic Surgery Center (Town and Country, Mo.). This 13,000-square-foot facility opened in 2007 and currently includes more than 22 credentialed physicians. The physicians are interested in orthopedic and neurological spine, general orthopedics and pain management. Surgeons perform outpatient single- and multi-level cervical and lumbar discectomies as well as total hip and knee replacements. The facility includes three operating rooms and two procedure rooms.
Stone Road Surgery Center (Lexington, Ky.). Stone Road Surgery Center is a 15,000-square-foot ASC with two surgical suites, a procedures suite and imaging capabilities. The surgery center includes fluoroscopy, radiographic imaging and digital CT scanning. The surgery center focuses on pain management and physicians perform epidurals, trigger point injections, spinal endoscopy, spinal cord stimulation and facet blocks. It is accredited by the Joint Commission and includes 60 members of The Pain Treatment Center of Blue Grass's medical, clinical and administrative staff.

A joint venture between Tucson Orthopaedic Institute and Tucson Medical Center, the ASC is now owned by TMC. The center features four ORs and hosts 19 surgeons from the practice. The center has logged less than 40 days in A/R since 2007 and 35,000 procedures since it opened. Tucson Orthopaedic is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
Turk's Head Surgery Center (West Chester, Pa.). This four-operating room surgery center is 12,000-square-feet and was developed with Chester Count Hospital.
