1. Dr. Lindstrom is an ophthalmologist who practices at Lindstrom Eye & Laser Center in Laurel, Miss. He also serves on the surgical staffs of Laurel Surgery and Endoscopy Center and South Central Regional Medical Center, both in Laurel.

2. He earned his medical degree from College Park-based University of Maryland and then joined the U.S. Army, completing his internship at Ft. Lewis, Wash.-based Madigan Army Medical Center. He then completed a residency at USAF School of Aerospace Medicine at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

After his residency, he served as a surgeon in Vietnam. After his tenure overseas, he returned to the U.S. to complete a second residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He served an additional year before retiring from active duty and moving to Laurel.

3. Dr. Lindstrom was awarded a Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and the combat Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. He retired from service as a colonel.

4. Throughout his 30-plus year career, he has earned several honors. Dr. Lindstrom is an American Board of Preventive Medicine and American Board of Ophthalmology diplomate. He is an American Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Surgeons and American College of Preventive Medicine fellow. He is a past president of the Mississippi State Medical Association and the Southern Medical Association.
