ASCA welcomes new board members, officers — 5 insights

The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association made a series of officer and board of directors' appointments.

Here's what you should know.

1. ASCA members voted in new officers: Larry Taylor as president; Kecia Norling, RN, as vice president; Ann Shimek, RN, as secretary and Linda Nash as treasurer.

2. Nashville, Tenn.-based AmSurg Vice President of Corporate Services Mark Wainner was elected to ASCA's board of directors.

3. These board members were re-elected:

  • Atlanta-based Ambulatory Anesthesia Partners President of Technical Anesthesia Strategies & Solutions Stanford Plavin, MD
  • Lee's Summit, Mo.-based Saint Luke's Surgicenter Administrator Janie Kinsey, RN
  • Bradenton, Fla.-based Manatee Surgical Center's Administrator/Risk Manager Linda Nash
  • Addison, Texas-based United Surgical Partners International Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations Ann Shimek, BSN, MSN, RN

4. No board member can serve more than two consecutive terms.

5. Bylaws require physicians make up 33 percent of the ASCA voting body.
