ASCA names 2 Nap Gary Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award recipients

ASCA presented the 3rd annual Nap Gary Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award to two individuals making a positive difference in the ASC community.

The 2017-18 ASCA Board President Rebecca Craig, RN, CASC, presented the award to Joel Gordon, co-founder of Surgical Care Affiliates. He was a pioneer in the ASC space and spent time in the U.S. Air Force.

"I have enjoyed great success in many years in the healthcare field," he said. "Founding Surgical Care Affiliates and being one of the leaders in the early days of outpatient surgery was the pinnacle of my career, and I have great admiration for those of you who have followed in building outpatient surgery centers into the exceptional business they are today."

ASCA Board Member Ann Shimek, RN, CASC, also presented the award to co-honoree Milla Perry Jones, who retired as vice president of government relations at United Surgical Partners International in December. Ms. Perry Jones played a role in organizing hundreds of facility tours for policy makers and built a national network of elected officials to support ASCs.

Ms. Perry Jones was also the Texas ASC Association's longest serving board member and was chair of the association's legislative affairs committee and political action committee.
