18 things to know about the 6 CEOs leading ASC management companies

The following six ASC management companies have made a name for themselves in the industry by adding a slew of centers in 2017 under the direction of their CEOs.

Here are 18 things to know about the companies' CEOs:

Clifford Alderz, Interim CEO and Director of Surgery Center Holdings for Surgery Partners.
1. Surgery Partners named Mr. Alderz to his interim CEO position this past September.

2. He previously was president of Symbion Healthcare, which Surgery Partners bought three years ago.

3. His past leadership experience includes division vice president of Hospital Corporation of America.

Chris Bishop, CEO of Regent Surgical Health.
4. Before taking on the CEO role, Mr. Bishop was president of Regent.

5. Throughout his 20-year healthcare career, he worked alongside healthcare leaders and providers to develop business opportunities aimed at driving optimal outpatient care.

6. At Ambulatory Surgery Centers of America, Mr. Bishop was the vice president of acquisition and business development.

Stacey Berner, MD, CEO, Principal and Managing Partner of SurgCenter Development.
7. In addition to this medical background, Dr. Berner earned his MBA from University of Tennessee's Haslam School of Business in Knoxville.

8. He earned his medical degree from Boston-based Tufts University School of Medicine.

9. Dr. Berner went on to complete a residency at Richmond-based Medical College of Virginia and fellowship in hand and microsurgery from New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery.

Andrew Hayek, CEO of Surgical Care Affiliates, Optum Health.
10. Mr. Hayek has been SCA's CEO since 2008.

11. He was a president of a DaVita Healthcare Partners' division before joining SCA's team.

12. Mr. Hayek was also the president of COO of Alliance Healthcare Services, a diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy provider.

Christopher Holden, CEO of Envision Healthcare.
13. From 2007 to 2016, Mr. Holden was the CEO of management company AmSurg and took on the CEO and president roles at Envision following the two companies' merger last year.

14. His healthcare expertise focuses on multifacility and multimarket healthcare management.

15. He was a founding team member and officer of Plato, Texas-based Triad Hospitals.

Barry Tanner, CEO of Physicians Endoscopy.
16. Joining Physicians Endoscopy in 1999, Mr. Tanner wrote the company's business plan alongside Karen Sablyak.

17. He also was the COO of HealthInfusion, a provider of home intravenous therapy services.

18. A CPA, Mr. Tanner spent seven years at KPMG in Chicago.
