The World Gastroenterology Organisation has released a new set of guidelines for the treatment of digestive tract tuberculosis.
The guideline was created by a team of eight experts, according to an April 27 news release. The World Gastroenterology Organisation now has 27 Global Guidelines. Guidelines provide context and resource-sensitive management options for all regions in the world and go through rigorous authoring, editing and peer reviews.
"Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, typically causing pulmonary TB," the new guideline said. "TB is the ninth most frequent cause of death worldwide and is the leading cause due to a single infectious agent, ranking above human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS)"
