Technological Advances Grow Endoscopy/Laparoscopy Markets

Increasing demand for technologies that enable early detection of colon, esophageal and gastrointestinal cancers has sparked growth in the endoscopy and laparoscopy markets, according to a new analysis by Frost & Sullivan.

The study, titled "Opportunities in Endoscopy/Laparoscopy," finds that the shift in surgical procedures from open surgery to minimally invasive surgery has created high demand for technologies that support such surgical procedures.

Minimally invasive surgery is expected to become the default surgical procedure in coming years, according to the report. The Frost & Sullivan report expects the market to see enhancements in capabilities of wireless capsule endoscopy, size and scope of flexible endoscopes, HD visualization systems and robotic endoscopic surgical assistance.
