Physicians Endoscopy supports Colon Cancer Awareness Month: 5 things to know

Physicians Endoscopy, a GI-driven ASC and endoscopy center company, is involved with several initiatives to kick off Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

Here are five things to know.

1. March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month. More than 80 percent of colorectal cancer deaths can be prevented with a screening colonoscopy, according to the American Cancer Society.

2. PE starts off March with a colon cancer awareness campaign offering information and education to the center's staff as well as friends and family.

3. PE actively supports Get Your Rear in Gear Philadelphia, a fundraising event in collaboration with the Colon Cancer Coalition. Physicians Endoscopy also supports AliveAndKickn, a hereditary cancer foundation dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by Lynch Syndrome and associated cancers through research, education and screening.

4. PE aims to increase colon cancer screenings in its partnered centers; in 2018, PE centers are scheduled to perform an estimated 535,000 procedures.
