The American Medical Association and the National Coalition for Health Professional Education in Genetics have developed an online educational program designed to improve a physician's ability to identify hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes in patients, according to a news release.
The course, which is free for anyone to use, is title "Colorectal Cancer: Are Your Patients at Increased Risk?" It is divided into four lessons that focus on assessing risk, genetic testing, risk communication and counseling and screening and surveillance.
Each lesson is designed to guide physicians through a series of patient scenarios and vignettes. After completing the lessons, the physician's skills will be assessed in identifying risk for hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes, according to the release.
The American Medical Association designates the enduring material for a maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. The American Medical Association also designates the performance improvement activity for a maximum of 20.0 AMA PRA Category 1 credits.
