Four more sexual assault charges were filed against Arkan Alrashid, MD, who prosecutors allege has "left behind a trail of victims over the last two decades," CBS 2 Chicago reported Nov. 4.
Dr. Alrashid, a gastroenterologist in Oak Brook and Libertyville, Ill., was charged with two counts of criminal sexual abuse Sept. 21, after he allegedly assaultaed a co-worker after a business event in 2019. Now prosecutors filed four additional counts of sexual abuse against him stemming from the accusations of five women, including one who worked with him in Wisconsin.
One of the women alleged Dr. Alrashid asked to see her in his office and then started to unbuckle his pants.
Dr. Alrashid's practice, Libertyville-based GI Partners of Illinois, has denied the allegations and said he is innocent until proven guilty. Dr. Alrashid also pleaded not guilty to all the counts Nov. 6. He can continue to practice medicine, but is required to have a chaperone during all patient encounters while the case is in progress.
Libertyville-based Advocate Condell Medical Center placed Dr. Alrashid on leave in September after the charges.
