Medtronic launched GI Genius, an endoscopy module that uses artificial intelligence to detect colorectal polyps.
What you should know:
1. The GI Genius module detects precancerous lesions in real time and flags them with visual markers.
2. Medtronic is distributing the device through an agreement with Cosmo Pharmaceuticals, which is the sole manufacturer of the software and device.
3. GI Genius has a CE mark, but does not yet have FDA clearance and is not available in the U.S.
