GI, Hepatology Societies Band Together to Create Accreditation Toolkit

Five gastroenterology and hepatology societies have collaborated to create a toolbox designed to help gastroenterology training directors meet the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Internal Medicine Subspecialty Reporting Milestones requirements.

The Oversight Working Network, the committee responsible for the toolkit, includes members from the following societies:

•    American Gastroenterological Association
•    American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases
•    American College of Gastroenterology
•    American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society
•    American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

The toolkit was created in response to the twice-yearly reporting milestones required through the Next Accreditation System. The outcomes-based accreditation system for graduate medical education programs will go into effect on July 1. The first reporting milestones for GI fellowship training programs will be due to the ACGME between November 31 and December 31.
