R. Fraser Stokes, MD, a gastroenterologist at Southwestern Gastrointestinal Specialists in Uniontown, Pa., has written a column on colorectal cancer prevention for the Herald Standard.
In the column, Dr. Stokes provides background information on the disease, discusses treatment of the cancer, outlines the recommendations for when to receive a colonoscopy and explains the state law for coverage of screening colonoscopies.
Dr. Stokes is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine, according to the Southwestern Gastrointestinal Specialists website. He received his MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of California San Diego Medical Center, and completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of California San Diego Medical Center.
