Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County in New Jersey will honor gastroenterologist Divo Messori, MD, as the 2012 Outstanding Volunteer Physician at an upcoming gala, according to a Cape May County Herald report.
Volunteers in Medicine is described as a free medical clinic serving low income residents of Cape May County with no access to health insurance. The event will take place Sept. 21.
Dr. Messori has served at VIM since 2008. He travels to VIM, located in Cape May Court House, N.J., at least three times per month to offer a gastroenterology clinic to patients. During this time he cares for 6-7 patients per shift.
Dr. Messori maintains a practice in Flourtown, Pa., as part of Hillmont G.I. He received his MD from Jefferson Medical College, according to his bio. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Grasslands Hospital in Valhalla, N.Y., and completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Jefferson Hospital.
