The Bariatric Surgery Center at Rose Medical Center in Denver recently became the first facility in the state to offer lap-band surgery to teenagers, according to a Rose Medical Center release.
The surgery center recently launched a teen obesity weight loss program, which combines nutrition, exercise and psychological counseling with bariatric and gastric sleeve surgery. According to Michael A. Snyder, medical director for the Bariatric Surgery Center at Rose, the program's main goal is to improve the health of young people who need help. He said the program is not a "quick fix."
The program's team includes a pediatrician, nutritionist and exercise therapist, as well as a psychology group with pediatric experience.
