Capsular Endoscopes Soon to Have HD Capability

Norwegian researchers are engineering pill cameras with HD capabilities, according to a news release.

Pill cameras are used to capture images from inside the gastrointestinal tract. The pill camera being developed will use wireless ultra-wideband technology to transmit images and radio technology to communicate its location within the body.

The researchers have successfully tested the technology in pigs. The tests revealed the camera can transmit strong video signals until the transmitter reaches a depth of more than 5 cm in the abdomen or the chest cavity.
