The American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association and American Society for Gastrointestinal Association are urging physicians to contact their House representatives to reverse proposed Medicare cuts.
Here are four things to know:
1. CMS proposed cuts to Medicare reimbursement rates for colonoscopy and other lower GI endoscopy procedures for 2016.
2. Nearly 275 gastroenterologists have reached out to CMS about how these cuts will affect their patients and practice.
3. House representatives Donald Payne Jr., D-N.J., and Leonard Lance, R-N.J., have asked their colleagues to join them in expressing concern regarding the pay cuts and its effects on access to colorectal cancer screening.
4. The three societies are urging GI physicians to sign this letter and contact their representatives.
