The American Association of Medical Assistants is joining the effort to increase colorectal cancer screenings rates.
Here's what you should know:
1. AAMA is participating the 80% by 2018 initiative. The initiative is led by the American Cancer Society, the CDC and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable.
2. The group hopes to increase CRC screening rates to 80 percent of all eligible adults by 2018.
3. If the goal is reached, approximately 277,000 cases and 203,000 colorectal cancer deaths would be prevented by 2030.
4. AAMA is a group heavily focused in the outpatient setting.
