A plastic surgeon has filed a complaint against several anonymous comments left on a patient review website, according to a Health Leaders Media report.
Armand Soto, MD, of Orlando, Fla., felt that the tone of the criticism on the website RateMDS.com was excessive. He filed a complaint in Henrico County Court in Virginia against 10 "John Does," whom he contended made comments on RateMDs.com that constituted defamation, "tortious interference" with contract rights, and business expectations.
Among the comments was a patient criticizing a liposuction procedure and announcing his or her intent to sue the specialist for damages. The patient wrote that the surgeon's work was intended to trim him or her down, but the targeted spot seemed to worsen after surgery. The patient was not identified as man or woman.
