Individual & organizational strategies to combat physician burnout: 4 things to know

Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic conducted a study looking at ways to help physicians suffering from burnout, according to The Inquirer.

Researchers reviewed 52 studies that included more than 3,600 doctors.

Here's where you need to know:

1. Individual strategies to combat burnout include physicians practicing mindfulness and stress-management training.

2. Physicians can also participate in group sessions where they can pick the brains of their colleagues in a confidential environment.

3. Some organizational strategies include reducing duty hours and changing the way providers provide care at healthcare facilities.

4. The researchers want to conduct more studies into the long-term benefit of combining strategies.
