How a New Jersey-based ASC plans to grow in the next 3-5 years

Melissa Hermanson, RN, CASC, administrator of Vineland, N.J.-based Ambulatory Care Center, discusses how she'll promote sustainable growth at her center over the next few years.

Question: How do you see the healthcare landscape changing and what is your strategic plan to maintain success?

Melissa Hermanson: The healthcare landscape is ever-changing in terms of both medical knowledge and delivery of care. In order to maintain success, we are welcoming new services, utilizing innovative ideas in technique and working to maintain costs. Partnering with a local health system is also a consideration to ensure increased access to providers and resources while continuing to offer the highest quality of personalized care.

Q: What do you see your center doing over the next three to five years to promote strength and sustainable growth?

MH: The most important aspects of promoting strength and sustainable growth are to support your team and recruit new talent. Developing a positive, motivated and professional staff will promote a team environment where innovation and growth are key strengths. Recruitment should be an ongoing effort. In order to grow in a meaningful way, you must always be adding services and providers.
