Question: What do you see your center doing over the next three to five years to promote strength and sustainable growth?

Scott Edwards: 1) We continue to recruit to the specialties we have in place. We have a new ENT this year and a new orthopedic surgeon coming by the end of the year. Recruiting new surgeons is the lifeblood of any growing surgery center. We work hard to balance our daily block schedule with all of our specialties, so our schedule is diverse and our volume is fairly consistent. We are currently looking at the possibility of adding two retina surgeons to our mix. This would add a specialty we do not currently offer.

2) We have worked hard with one of our vendors this year to create custom packs for many of our high-volume cases, which makes us much more efficient. 3) We also work very hard to make it a positive, caring work environment so we have little turnover and attract good people which makes our surgeons happy. 4) Lastly, we are evaluating a potential new practice management system as well as a new billing company that should help us increase revenue and add to our bottom line.
