4 strategies for adapting your team to change

Getting the most out of a team requires adaptability - something that many organizations are not equipped to facilitate. The following are four strategies to explore for organizing your team to approach any challenge, adapted from Forbes.

1. Explore team member competencies to identify strengths, weaknesses and motivations for appropriate placement.

2. Match competencies to tasks. With each member of the team evaluated, match talents with tasks. This will keep your team happy, well-utilized and successful. Consider rotating team members if the definition of success on a task changes.

3. Eliminate rank. According to the article, “rank and status have no bearing on character and competence.”

4. Become project-based. Working in project units instead of as siloed individuals with expertise will allow people to shift roles based on the core competencies a project requires.
