USPI joint ventures with Santa Barbara Surgery Center — 5 insights

United Surgical Partners International entered into a partnership with Santa Barbara (Calif.) Surgery Center Oct. 1, Noozhawk reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. USPI acquired an ownership stake in SBSC. The center is now jointly owned by area physicians and USPI.

2. USPI Vice President of Development Alex Bolanos lauded the partnership, saying the company is "pleased to be part of the Central Coast healthcare community."

3. Mr. Bolanos believes the partnership will result in SBSC adopting a more value-based care approach to its care delivery.

4. SBSC Medical Director and Board President Gary Anderson, MD, said, "At SBSC, we are proud of our commitment to provide the highest quality care in the most efficient manner for our patients. Our partnership with USPI will further those capabilities."

5. Santa Barbara Surgery Center has served the Santa Barbara area and its surrounding communities since 2001. The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care accredited the center, which is also part of the California Ambulatory Surgery Association and the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association.
