Surgical Care Affiliates Enters Into Agreement With Health System, Two Organizations for North Carolina Surgery Center

Surgical Care Affiliates has announced it has entered into a formal agreement with Moses Cone Health System, Carolina Neurosurgery and Vanguard Brain and Spine, which have purchased an interest in the general partnership that operates the Greensboro (N.C.) Specialty Surgery Center.

The ambulatory surgery center will be jointly owned by the three organizations, the center's physician partners and SCA. It will continue to be managed by SCA, according to a news release.

The ASC features three operating rooms and two procedure rooms. It offers surgical services in spine, ophthalmology, podiatry and other types of surgery.

In the news release, Andrew Hayek, president and CEO of SCA, said, "We are honored to be selected to enter into this relationship with Moses Cone, Carolina Neurosurgery and Vanguard Brain and Spine. The strength of our clinical programs was a critical factor in this decision, and we look forward to creating the leading spine surgery program in eastern North Carolina. We believe this relationship will improve healthcare in Greensboro and surrounding areas, and further position SCA as the partner of choice for health systems and physicians."
