New Lenox, Ill.-base Silver Cross Hospital filed a rezoning request to the New Lenox Village Board for its new ambulatory surgery center, according to The Herald News.
Here are five things to know:
1. The hospital also filed a certificate-of-need with the state in May, and is set for a hearing on Aug. 2.
2. Pending approval, Silver Cross would begin construction on its ASC, which would take nearly 10 months to complete.
3. Silver Cross' 13,800-square-foot ASC would house three operating rooms and is projected to cost nearly $11 million.
4. During the village trustees' meeting earlier this week, various residents voiced concern about the ASC's intended height as well as possible water drainage. Zoning parameters permit medical buildings to stand as tall as 135 feet.
5. New Lenox Board will likely make its decision regarding rezoning approval at the next board meeting.
