Saint Thomas Rutherford, USPI building $16M+ surgery center following CON approval: 5 key points

The State of Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency approved Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health's certificate-of-need application to expand its services, according to Murfreesboro Post.

Here are five key points:

1. In a joint venture with United Surgical Partners International, Saint Thomas Health plans to build an ambulatory surgical treatment center.

2. The 13,000-square-foot surgery center will house one operating room and one procedure room.

3. The surgery center's estimated cost exceeds $16 million.

4. Tennessee officials also approved Saint Thomas Rutherford's plans to add 72 medical beds to the hospital, bringing the total number of beds to 258.

5. The total expansion project costs $63-plus million.
