Regent Surgical Health Partners With CA Hospital, Surgeons on Two Joint-Venture ASCs

Regent Surgical Health has announced it is partnering with Lodi (Calif.) Memorial Hospital and 17 physician-partners on two surgery centers, according to a news release from Regent Surgical Health.

The new joint-venture ASCs are the Lodi Outpatient Surgical Center and the Endoscopy Center of Lodi. The facilities will provide specialties including ENT, endoscopy, general surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, ophthalmology and urology.

These surgery centers are Regent's 24th and 25th surgery centers, 13 of which are joint ventures with hospitals and physicians.

"Lodi Memorial Hospital and its physician-partners face the same challenges related to competition, the economy and healthcare reform, but they were not working to solve them together," said Thomas Mallon, Regent CEO and founder, in the release. "We helped the hospital and its physician-partners bring these two centers together as one company that aligns the interests of all parties for long-term success."

Lodi Memorial Hospital President and CEO Joe Harrington said, in the release, "This relationship is important, not only to the partners, but to the hospital's five-county service area. Our community is best served by local doctors, a local hospital and local resources. This partnership is a win, win, win for the hospital, physicians and our community."

Lodi Outpatient Surgical Center was opened in 1984 by Lodi Surgical Associates, a group of five local physicians, to perform outpatient surgical procedures. The Endoscopy Center of Lodi opened two years ago to perform endoscopic procedures on an outpatient basis.
