The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, based in Reading, Pa., has acquired a surgical center in Spring Township, Pa., according to a Reading Eagle report.
The center — the Surgical Institute of Reading — will remain in its current location and continue to operate in its current fashion.
Physicians at the surgical center performed more than 5,000 procedures in 2011 in specialties that included ENT, general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics and pain management.
The acquisition of the center is expected to be completed this summer. It will become a division of Reading Hospital.
