The University of Houston is building an ambulatory surgery center for its College of Optometry as part of the institution's new Health and Biomedical Sciences Center in Houston, and the facility is expected to be completed for the fall 2012 semester, according to a Daily Cougar report.
The ASC will include two components: a place for outpatient ophthalmic procedures and another for laser-refractive surgery, according to earlier reports.
In addition to the ASC, the facility will house an inter-disciplinary research program, a specialized research area, classrooms and vivarium space.
