Palmer, Alaska-based Mat-Su Regional Medical plans to open a new building this summer, according to Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman. Here are five highlights:
1. The new building, Medical Plaza II, will house independent physician groups and health service providers. It will include oncology services, an advanced wound care center, pharmacy, multi-specialty services and administrative space.
2. Medical Plaza II will be connected to the Mat-Su Regional's existing plaza to facilitate collaboration between inpatient and outpatient medical teams.
3. In the first quarter of 2018, 52 inpatient beds for medical and surgical care will be added to Mat-Su Regional's existing third floor.
4. Construction on Medical Plaza II began in August 2017, and the overall medical expansion is scheduled for completion in 2020.
5. The hospital will have more than double its current capacity after expansion is complete.
