Massachusetts Hospital Receives State Exemption From Environment Review for New Surgery Center

Winchester (Mass.) Hospital has received an exemption from environment review for a new ambulatory surgery center it is developing, according to a report from the Winchester Star.

The exemption allows the hospital to move ahead with the surgical center.

The hospital is building the ASC as part of a larger hospital expansion project. The ASC received the waiver from the Executive Office of Environmental and Energy Affairs because building the new facility would not alter wetland resources, buffer zones or floodplain, according to the report. The review of the larger project is incomplete.

The 31,200-square-foot ASC is expected to provide services in specialties including orthopedics, urology, gynecology and ENT, according to earlier reports.
