Licking Memorial Health Systems plans to convert the Medical Center of Newark (Ohio) to an outpatient facility while exploring whether there is a future for inpatient services at the facility, according to a Columbus Business Journal report.
No changes in operations will occur until the sale closes to Licking Memorial later this year. The cash deal, the amount of which has not been disclosed, was made public Monday by the two Newark facilities.
The medical center's 100 employees will be asked to apply at 1,600-employee Licking Memorial. Physicians without operating privileges at the main hospital will be encouraged to seek them.
