New York-based Frontier Healthcare Partners, an ASC management company, partnered with local physicians to open Mulberry Ambulatory Surgical Center in Newark, N.J.
Here are six takeaways:
1. The 10,700-square-foot ASC will offer patients services including gastroenterology, pain management and orthopedic.
2. Physicians will own a majority stake in the surgery center, and project to perform almost 7,000 cases annually.
3. Mulberry ASC marks Frontier Healthcare's first ASC in New Jersey.
4. To open the surgery center, Frontier helped implement a marketing effort geared toward attracting new physicians as well as reorganized the business.
5. Frontier worked with physician owners to obtain payer contracts, and will continue helping the ASC partner with physicians as well as provide various administrative, operational, billing and strategic advisory services.
6. Frontier has opened six ASCs throughout New York since its 2013 inception.
"With Frontier's resources and expertise, the Mulberry Center was able to assist the founder in recruiting new physicians and provide back office support to gain joint commission accreditation," said Roy Bejarano, president of Frontier Healthcare. "Our work on Mulberry showed how vital a management company can be in establishing the terms and structure of agreements with participating physicians and executing on the actual transaction."
