Taft, Calif.-based West Side Health Care District is building a $9 million outpatient clinic to replace the area's long-defunct acute care hospital, the Taft Midway Driller reports.
Here's what you should know:
1. The clinic is replacing a series of small stop gap clinics the system has built since the area hospital closed in 2003. This outpatient facility will be the first major healthcare investment in Taft.
2. Health Care District Board President Eric Cooper said, "Today we are taking our first steps. This project has been a dream for a decade now for the West Side Health Care District."
3. The facility will be 12,800 square feet when complete in 2019.
4. The clinic is being funded through a government loan, Health Care District money and a fundraising campaign.
