7 Recent ASC Announcements, Expansions or Openings

Here are seven ambulatory surgery centers that have been announced, expanded or opened within the past month.

Barrington (Ill.) Pain and Spine Institute received a certificate of need to add spine surgery to its surgery center's offerings.

Buffalo Surgery Center in Amherst, N.Y., filed plans with the state department of health for a $1.2 million, 35,000-square-foot facility located next to its existing building on the Excelsior Orthopaedics Campus.

Campbell Clinic, based in Memphis, Tenn., acquired Midtown Surgery Center in October 2013. The clinic now opened the center, which will operate under the name Campbell Clinic Surgery Center-Midtown.

Carolina Orthopaedic Specialist, based in Hickory, N.C., and Rendina Companies plan to develop and open the Coastal Surgery Center by 2015. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new center was held April 29.

Hawthorn Surgery Center, an affiliate of Surgical Care Affiliates, moved to a new ambulatory surgery center location. Hawthorn Surgery Center, previously located in Libertyville, Ill., moved to the new 15,200-square-foot location in Vernon Hills, Ill.

Summit Orthopaedics in Woodbury, Minn., opened a 68,000-square-foot orthopedic surgery center with 23-hour stay capabilities.

Texas Fertility Center opened its new embryology lab for in vitro fertilization and fertility surgery center in San Antonio.
