15 Surgery Centers Opened or Announced in May

Here are 15 surgery centers that were opened or announced last month.

Southfield, Mich.-based Detroit Medical Center's Harper University Hospital opened Harper Bariatric Medicine Institute, a bariatric surgery center.

WakeMed Health & Hospitals has partnered with a group of 24 physicians to open Capital City Surgery Center in Raleigh, N.C., a $17.6 million facility which expects to open its doors in August.

Citrus Memorial Health System
in Inverness, Fla., announced it has long-term plans for projects that include a new surgery center.

Orlando-based Digestive and Liver Center of Florida has opened the Endo-Surgical Center of Florida.

Evergreen Eye Center has opened in a new Auburn, Wash., location.

Salina, N.Y.-based Eye Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of New York have opened a new surgery center.

Fairview Health Services and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis announced their collaboration on a $182 million surgery center, to begin construction in the fall of 2013.

Franciscan St. Anthony Health – Crown Point
(Ind.) opened a new 27,000-squre-foot outpatient surgery center costing about $11.6 million.

The recently-opened Gates Vascular Institute/Clinical and Translational Center in Buffalo, N.Y., houses a surgery center in addition to research labs and a business incubator.

The United States Air Force opened its first ambulatory surgery center in the National Capital Region with Malcolm Grow Medical Clinic, located at the Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
