Stillwater Medical Center presently has two construction projects underway to meet the growing demands for outpatient care in Oklahoma, according to the Washington Times.
Here are 10 things to know:
1. The projects include an $11 million medical clinic as well as a $3 million fitness and therapy center.
2. The 50,000-square-foot clinic will have six pediatricians and 18 exams rooms. It will also have accounting and billing offices.
3. A portion of the building will remain undeveloped and is designated for future expansion.
4. Stillwater's expansion is attributed to a nationwide trend in construction. In the institutional sector, construction is anticipated to rise by 9 percent in 2015.
5. Additionally, the expansion is correlated with the Affordable Care Act, which allows more previously uninsured people access to health insurance.
6. The Stillwater Medical Foundation provided $2 million for the expansion of the fitness and therapy center.
7. The 8,500-square-foot fitness center presently has approximately 1,000 members including employees and the general public.
8. Oklahoma State University students who study physical therapy will have the opportunity to work with high school students with disabilities in the pool.
9. Construction on the medical clinic began in May and is predicted to be completed by July 2016.
10. The fitness building construction began in the fall of 2014 and is expected to be completed in December.
