Last year, hospitals lost more than $1 billion on procedures by using expensive medical devices, such as implants for heart and orthopedic procedures, according to a Premier Inc. survey, a Wall Street Journal report said.
Another survey by Premier found that 70 percent of hospitals would consider buying cheaper alternatives. Hospitals are putting pressure on medical device companies to lower prices.
