Richard Meelia, former president and CEO of Covidien, stepped down as the chairman of the company's board of directors after serving less than one year following his retirement last July, according to a MassDevice report.
Mr. Meelia decided not to seek re-election as chairman because of the "smooth executive transition" by Jose Almeida, according to an SEC filing. Mr. Meelia was named Covidien CEO in 2007 after the company was separated out of Tyco International.
