The FDA informally agreed to work with Biocom, a San Diego-based life sciences trade group, to improve medical device review, according to a North County Times report.
The agreement is to redesign the medical device approval process and eliminate cumbersome and unnecessary steps. Jeffrey Shuren, director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health at FDA, told the North County Times that the FDA is looking for similar arrangements with trade groups across the country.
