Drug Shortages Increasingly Take Toll on Care

As shortages of critical drugs increase, physicians are resorting to second-choice drugs, according to a The Oncology Report article.

A recent study found 96 percent of hospitals have experienced shortages in anesthesia for surgery. About 90 percent had experienced shortages in drugs used for emergency care, cardiovascular care and gastroenterology and nutrition.
