Large medical device companies need to find more efficient ways to work with start-up companies to commercialize new products, and resources and synergies at medical institutions could be better used.
The device companies can offer technology, fabrication methods and resources, testing equipment and procedures, and regulatory management. And academic medicine can offer clinicians and scientists who are invested in understanding disease states.
