Codman Receives FDA Clearance for Programmable Infusion System

Codman & Shurtleff has announced it has received FDA clearance through a PMA supplement for its new programmable infusion system, according to a news release.

 

The MEDSTREAM system is an implantable infusion pump and catheter system used in the treatment of spasticity. MEDSTREAM features an eight-year battery life and the SURESTREAM intraspinal catheter, a catheter designed to deliver uninterrupted therapy, according to the company.

 

MEDSTREAM marks Codman's entry into the field of neuromodulation.

Laxmin Laxminarain, worldwide president of Codman, in the release. "We are committed to developing products that can make a meaningful difference in people's lives and lessen the global burden of neurological disease."

 

Codman & Shurtleff is part of DePuy and the Johnson & Johnson family of companies. It is headquartered in Raynham, Mass.
