Amerinet, a national healthcare group purchasing organization, has named Michael J. Sweeney, MD, MBA, as its chief medical officer, according to an Amerinet news release.
Dr. Sweeney is a vascular and general surgeon with nearly 20 years in private practice. His additional professional experiences include creation of a management services organization and independent physician association.
"Dr. Sweeney is a highly respected and recognized expert, especially in the area of clinical preference items, and will provide immediate credibility and benefit in the area of physician engagement," said Randy Walter, executive vice president, enterprise solutions, in the release. "He has significant consulting experience in the area of PPI (physician preference items) as well as demonstrated success in bringing suppliers and clinicians to the table to develop effective strategies to drive standardization and quality improvement of care."
